Boulder residents will vote this November on whether to close Boulder Municipal Airport and redevelop the land for housing.
Advocates have secured enough signatures for two ballot measures: one to shut down the airport and another to convert the land into a mixed-use neighborhood with affordable housing.
While the debate has largely focused on housing, concerns about health risks from leaded aviation fuel are also gaining attention, supported by studies from other communities showing elevated blood lead levels in children living near airports.
